What is an ATMS?
ATMS stands for advanced traffic management system. It is the central system that monitors and controls traffic signals and other roadside devices, detects problems and supports the operators who respond to them.
What is the difference between ITS and ATMS?
ITS, intelligent transport systems, is the general term for the use of sensing, communication and control technology in transport. ATMS is one part of ITS: the part that manages traffic on a road network from a control centre.
Can an ATMS work with existing traffic signals?
Yes, when the controllers support a communication protocol that the platform can use. We review the installed controllers and define which can be connected directly and which need an upgrade.
Is an ATMS only for large cities?
No. A small network, an industrial city or a single corridor also benefits from central monitoring of faults and from coordinated signal plans. The system is scaled to the number of devices.
