NEMA, EU and UK traffic control cabinets in Saudi Arabia
The roadside cabinet is where a traffic signal or ITS site actually lives: the controller, power distribution, communication equipment and backup power all sit inside it. X Arena supplies, assembles, installs and maintains traffic control cabinets built to NEMA, European and UK practice for projects across Saudi Arabia, working from our office in Jubail in the Eastern Province.
The right cabinet standard depends on the controller family and on the specification of the road authority. We help the project team choose the cabinet type, lay out the internal equipment and prepare the wiring so that the cabinet arrives on site ready to connect and test.
Cabinet types we supply
NEMA traffic signal cabinets
Cabinets arranged for NEMA controllers, with the back panel, load switches, flasher, conflict monitor and detector rack that this controller family expects.
European and UK cabinets
Compact cabinets for controllers built to European and UK practice, with integrated power, lamp switching and monitoring.
ITS and communication cabinets
Enclosures for CCTV, detection, network switches, fibre termination and other roadside ITS equipment.
Power and UPS cabinets
Separate or combined enclosures for the service connection, surge protection, batteries and UPS backup of a junction.
Built for heat, dust and long service
Enclosure and protection rating
Aluminium or stainless steel enclosures with gaskets and filters, selected to the ingress protection rating that the specification requires.
Thermal management
Sun shields, ventilation, fans and thermostats sized for summer temperatures, so that the electronics stay inside their operating range.
Electrical protection
Circuit breakers, surge protection devices and proper earthing protect the controller and field equipment from faults and voltage spikes.
Organised internal layout
Racks, DIN rails, labelled terminals and cable management make later maintenance faster and safer for the technician.
From supply to maintenance
Design and assembly
Layout drawings, wiring diagrams and assembly of the cabinet with the approved components.
Testing before delivery
Functional testing of the assembled cabinet with its controller before it is sent to site.
Installation and termination
Foundation coordination, cabinet installation, field cable termination and commissioning.
Maintenance and retrofits
Inspection, cleaning, replacement of filters and fans, and retrofits of existing cabinets with new controllers or communication.
Frequently asked questions about traffic control cabinets
What is a NEMA traffic cabinet?
It is a traffic signal cabinet arranged to the NEMA standards used with NEMA controllers. The standard defines how the controller, load switches, conflict monitor and detectors connect, so that equipment from different manufacturers can work together.
What is the difference between NEMA and EU or UK cabinets?
They follow different controller standards. NEMA cabinets use separate plug-in devices on a back panel, while European and UK controllers usually integrate lamp switching and monitoring in the controller rack. The choice follows the controller and the specification of the project.
Does X Arena supply traffic control cabinets in Saudi Arabia?
Yes. X Arena supplies, assembles, installs and maintains traffic and ITS cabinets across Saudi Arabia, from our office in Jubail, Eastern Province.
Can a cabinet withstand the summer heat in Saudi Arabia?
A cabinet has to be designed for it. Sun shielding, ventilation, filtered fans and the right enclosure material keep the internal temperature within the limits of the equipment. We size the thermal management for the site conditions.
Can you upgrade an existing cabinet instead of replacing it?
Often, yes. If the enclosure is in good condition, the controller, communication and protection devices inside it can be replaced or added. We inspect the cabinet first and advise whether a retrofit or a new cabinet is the better option.
